Paranormal Activity

Paranormal Activity
My wife and I went to see Paranormal
Activity. I had somehow managed to escape
all mention of this movie prior to walking
into the theater so I think that may
have contributed to the fun I had watching
it. It came off a bit Blair Witchy from
the standpoint of it being self filmed
though the camera work is higher
quality and there are more tripod
shots so your less apt to get motion
sickness from the camera work.
There are sections of the movie that are
time lapsed and those had a creepy factor of 11
on a scale of 1-10 for me. Holy Smokes the
scenes where the wife is standing over her husband
while he sleeps and she is almost entirely motionless
for hours on end are amazingly creepy.
I think people that say this movie isn't
scary didn't let them selves have fun with it.
More interesting to me than the movie though
was the fact that there is no soundtrack and
large sections of the movie are completely silent.
This leaves you able to focus 100% on the
video as well as absorb sounds from the
audience around you. It was really fun
listening to comments from the audience
around us. You could hear a pin drop due to
the lack of soundtrack on the film. It
was a creative direction to go with a movie
and something I wish we saw more of.

Written Words.

I'm writing about things and posting them.
I've wanted a creative outlet and have
been enjoying writing lately. I believe that
writing with physical tools instead of a
computer is a dying art-form and I enjoy
it. I think in the next 20 years
there will be a lot less handwriting in
regular use. Writing and transfer of thought
to paper is an entirely different thought
process for me than using a computer.
I need to put more thought into organi-
zing and flow on paper because it is
a lot more final especially using a
pen in a journal. I'm a lot less careful
about thinking ahead on the computer
because it's so easy to correct things.
From a brain storming activity the computer
is fabulous but I love the thought process
behind composing direct to paper. I think
you can convey some thoughts and feelings
in interesting ways when writing vs typed.
For instance the word ANGRY! vs the
same word typed in Ariel 10pt bold
doesn't have the same feeling when it's
not written.
Pick up a pen and write something
it's your right.
until next time.....
